In the middle of the Finnish countryside in Joutsa, the morning starts by receiving the milk from our freshly milked cows. Our milk comes from our own dairy farm, which is just a stone’s throw away from the factory. Actually, it is so close to our factory that it takes only two hours from milking to be inside the cheese making kettle, ready for the daily production. Fresh, high quality finnish milk is the secret of successfully produced cheese and the longer the cheese is aging the more significant this becomes.

Pure nature and morning milk combined with long experience of our Cheese Masters’ and traditional cheese making process provides high quality and pure products, the Real Cheddars. We hold on to the traditional cheese making method even though it requires a lot of craftmanship and time. It is the only way to make real cheddar that actually tastes like real cheddar.

Jukolan Juusto Oy is the cheese factory in Finland who makes to real cheddar cheese.
Cheese production is now about 80 000 kg per year. The cheeses are made from the farm’s own milk. Farm produces about 3 million liters milk per year. Now we use less than one million liters, so the manufacturing capacity is three times more.

We have won a silver award for the most famous cheese competition at the World Cheese Awards in Spain in 2021. (Real Cheddar Vintage). The products can be found in stores and wholesalers all over Finland.

We make very special cheeses that use the best flavors in the world, for example Real Cheddar with Gin: Kyrö Distillery Napue gin, Real Cheddar with Whisky: Helsinki Distillery Rye Malt whiskey, Real Cheddar with Red Wine: Tommasi Amarone. Cheeses maturation times range from 3 months to 18 months. We are also ready to manufacture for customers’ own brand. All products have a long best before dates: 150 days to 230 days.
